Principle
The medical face mask sample is mounted on the test device. A fixed volume of synthetic blood is horizontally projected onto the mask sample to simulate the scenario of blood splashing from a perforated blood vessel onto the mask. The liquid volume, projection distance, nozzle diameter and projection velocity are specified in the test method to be consistent with the actual medical operation processes.
If synthetic blood penetrates to the side of the mask that contacts the wearer's face, the mask is deemed unqualified. The test result shall be recorded as "Pass/Fail".
The medical face mask sample shall be tested at the liquid projection velocities corresponding to the blood pressures of 10.6 kPa, 16.0 kPa and 21.3 kPa (i.e. 80 mmHg, 120 mmHg, 160 mmHg) respectively. Record the test results at each projection velocity, and specify the maximum blood pressure corresponding to the acceptable quality level limit of 4 for the medical face mask.
1. Test Device: Equipped with a sample fixing device, a liquid container, a pressure control valve and a valve controller, it can fix the medical face mask sample and distribute the synthetic blood on the target area of the sample. The valve controller can project a fixed volume of synthetic blood within a controlled time period.
The sample fixing device is convex-shaped. The sample shall be spread out and fixed at a distance of 300 mm from the projection nozzle. The sample is fixed on the sample fixing device with metal clamps or plastic fasteners, leaving the test target area exposed without damaging the sample.
2. Air Compressor: Capable of supplying air at a pressure of (700±25) kPa.
3. Graduated Cylinder: With an accuracy of 0.1 mL.
4. Balance: With an accuracy of at least 0.01 g.
5. Temperature and Humidity Recorder.
6. Constant Temperature and Humidity Chamber: Capable of maintaining the temperature required for sample preconditioning.
7. Fixed Target Plate.
